ClamAV For Windows is the Windows release of an open source antivirus instrument initially made for UNIX and Linux operating systems.
It comes with command line user interface for various specific operations such as scanning files for viruses and updating the virus definitions, and a daemon for more rapid virus scanning.
ClamAV is not only an antivirus scanner launched by server apps like a mail server or proxy because it allows you to operate with it for common goals like to scan for viruses separately, files or directories as well.
This release works best when used on servers, together with applications able to recognize it.
For updating its virus definitions, the only thing you have to perform is to launch the program: you are able to do this either from the Windows start menu, or by using the command line mode.
There is no fee for utilizing the command line mode for Windows which is released under the GPL. The application is absolutely free.
