Review and how it works
GTK+, aka The GIMP Toolkit, was intended as a cross-platform widget toolkit designed for making graphical user interfaces.
Born from the need to add to The GIMP (image editor) an interface, GTK+ package is now used by numerous popular applications. Between the tools that are operating with this widget toolkit you can find: Pidgin - the instant messenger, AbiWord - an application similar to Word, Wireshark, VMware Player, Ekiga VoIP softphone, Midori - portable internet webbrowser, CinePaint, Gramps and others.
Some tools require to install this package first. For instance, The GIMP application won't function without installing GTK.
In other words, GTK+ manages the components of the program's user interface with all the menus, buttons, fields and so forth. .The text is rendered operating with Pango engine.
How to install & uninstall GTK+ - system requirements Nothing special to install, use or uninstall it.
