Iris is an astronomy application developed for Windows operating system by a professional of this science.
IRIS integrates some of the most needed tools for astronomical picture processing such as composition, registration as well as editing of the pictures from the astronomy field.
Its various features specially designed to process digital astronomical imagery are optimized for pictures taken with CCD cameras.
The users will be able to access and read with IRIS the pictures from the Buil-Thouvenot Atlas, available as a CD-ROM with lots of pictures of sky objects.
It will help you to import specific images from formats such as BMP, JPEG, AVI, RAW, APN, to work with FITS format and with an advanced and practical IRIS on-line command mode.

The user is allowed to adjust the tonal luminance of the image loaded in memory, to fine-tune the contrast of the RGB layers at the same time (option RGB) and work separately with color layers.
The astronomy software can coordinate the photo acquisition by operating with a standard USB port which has been added for up to 30 seconds exposure times.
